LOS ANGELES, CA.- ExchangeWorks will present Art for Miles, a two week mileage drive featuring international artists who are traveling for exhibitions or research. In partnership with several international museums and non-profit organizations, Art for Miles is a great opportunity for new or seasoned art collectors to use their extra mileage points to support artists and acquire contemporary art. The works in Art for Miles range in value from $500 to $2,500 and includes, painting, photography, collage and prints.
New York based artist Daniela Kostova is offering the photograph Cosmonaut 1001 in exchange for a round-trip ticket from NYC to Sofia, Bulgaria, where she will install new work at the Center for Contemporary Art, Plovdiv. Cosmonaut 1001 was created for the exhibition After the Flight which was a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the first human flight in outer space. Cosmonaut 1001 was featured in the New York Times in 2014.
Inspired by different cultures, Alexandros Georgiou's photography revolves around his travels. He creates a new body of photographs and handmade post cards each time he travels. Alexandros upcoming journey to India in the fall of 2015 includes a pilgrimage to the 18 most important temples dedicated to the Goddess Sati. At the end of his journey selected photographs will be exhibited at the Benaki Museum of Islamic Art in Athens. A photograph is available in exchange for a round-trip ticket from NYC to Athens, Greece, where the artist will have a solo exhibition at the museum.
