LONDON.- Showcasing works from all around the world, Light and Land on The Mall is a celebration of landscape photography curated by Charlie Waite, Britains foremost landscape photographer. The exhibition will consist of landscape photography taken by leading and amateur photographers from Britain who have studied under Charlie Waite and the team at Light and Land.
For 25 years Charlie Waites hugely successful Light and Land workshops, tutorials and worldwide tours have taught a generation of photographers to connect with the landscape through photography. At the core of Light and Land is Waites ethos of the all-important silent exchange between photographer and landscape, which has created a body of extraordinary photography.
Light and Land is now the UKs leading photography tour operator. Charlie Waite heads up a team of 20 outstanding UK photographers, offering carefully curated workshops and lessons that open up a new way of thinking about and making photographs.
Light and Land on The Mall is the result of thousands of hours of teaching from the team at Light and Land and features images taken all over the world.
A series of talks from Charlie Waite and other Light and Land tutors will take place over the weekend of 8th August.
Charlie Waite commented : Light and Land on the Mall is a celebration of the individual photographers personal response to a moment of beauty. It invites us to engage with the photographers intent for each individual image allowing us as audience to stand alongside the photographer, immersed in the time and place when the image was made. Only an exhibition of printed images will allow us to quietly and in our own time enter into the photographers creative impulse and to share and wonder at the photographers response to the world around them.
Charlie Waite is now firmly established as one of the worlds leading landscape photographers and this summer Charlie has been invited to exhibit his photography as part of the Royal Academy summer exhibition. He has published 28 books on photography and held over 30 solo exhibitions across Europe, the USA, Japan and Australia. His highly acclaimed one man shows have taken place at Goldstrom Gallery, New York, CfPA Gallery, California, OXO Gallery, London and at Littleton Gallery, London. Awarded the prestigious Honorary Fellowship to the British Institute of Professional Photographers and Amateur Photographys Power of Photography Award he frequently invited all over the world to give lectures on landscape photography, as well as frequent appearances in national print and broadcast media talking about photography.
Instantly recognisable, Charlie Waites landscapes are rare perfections of light, colour and composition, offering the viewer a glimpse of a moment of beauty carefully framed by a master craftsman. Waites photographs aim to encourage an emotional response from the viewer based on the silent exchange between viewer and landscape.
