DALLAS, TX.- Heritage Auctions has announced that Lloyd Currey, one of the leading popular fiction specialists in the rare books trade, will be joining forces with Heritage Auctions.

Currey started working in the world of antiquarian books when he was just 15 years old, in San Francisco, as an employee of the late William P. Wreden of Palo Alto, California. He worked for Wreden from 1958 to 1965, through high school and college, while earning his degree at San Jose State College in San Jose, California. In 1965, Currey was hired by J. S. Canner and Company, Boston, MA, managing the literature department of their book division. By 1967 he had co-founded Literary Heritage of Sharon, MA, and in 1968 established his own antiquarian book business, L.W. Currey, Inc., in Mattapan, MA, which he runs to this day out of its current location in Elizabethtown, NY. Currey is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America, Inc. and a current member and past officer of the Science Fiction Research Association.

Besides being a top antiquarian bookseller and expert, Currey has also made quite a name for himself as a Science Fiction editor. In 1973, he co-founded Dragon Press, along with David G. Hartwell, a noted science fiction, fantasy, and horror publishing company. From 1975 to 1979 Currey was co-editor, also along with Hartwell, of the Gregg Press Science Fiction Series and the G. K. Hall Reference Publications in Science Fiction. From 1979 to 1984 he was editor of G. K. Hall's Masters of Science Fiction Series.

In addition to running his business full-time, Currey has engaged in many research projects and written or edited a number of books. His credits include: A Research Guide to Science Fiction Studies: An Annotated Checklist of Primary and Secondary Sources for Fantasy and Science Fiction, 1977; Index to Stories in Thematic Anthologies of Science Fiction, 1978; Science Fiction and Fantasy Authors: A Bibliography of First Printings of Their Fiction and Selected Non-Fiction, 1979; and Bibliography of Yosemite, The Central and Southern High Sierra, and the Big Trees 1839-1900, 1992.
