Nichols House Museum appoints new Director
Glazomitsky comes to the NHM from the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) in Salem, MA where she has spent the past three years as the Special Projects Manager for the CEO.

BOSTON, MASS.- Following an extensive search, the Nichols House Museum announces the appointment of Victoria Glazomitsky as its new Executive Director. Glazomitsky comes to the NHM from the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) in Salem, MA where she has spent the past three years as the Special Projects Manager for the CEO. Prior to the Peabody Essex Museum, Glazomitsky spent five years at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, MA where she most recently served as the Strategic Planning Project Manager. She has also worked in the industries of fashion and insurance, and brings with her over a decade of experience managing complex projects and organizational growth.

Kate Enroth, Vice-President of the Board of Governors, is drawn to the energy that Ms. Glazomitsky promises to bring to the Nichols House Museum. “Ms. Glazomitsky has an exciting vision for the Nichols House that will continue to enhance the experiences of its guests, connect the past with the present, and redefine what it means to be a historic house museum in the 21st century.”

Glazomitsky has an impressive portfolio of projects and programs. At PEM, in addition to being a key member of the building expansion team, she developed and oversaw a new summer research program partnering with Harvard University, created a focus group system that gained insight and built relationships with the coveted 18-30 year old audience, worked on interpretation tools and helped to plan the annual Gala, PEM’s largest fundraising event. She brings with her significant experience in business planning, including developing a proprietary financial model for the deCordova that was used to implement its strategic plan.

“I could not be more thrilled to join the Nichols House Museum team. It is not only an architectural and cultural treasure, but also has an amazing story, particularly as reflected through the ethos of the innovative and creative Rose Standish Nichols, the last member of the family that occupied the house from 1885 to 1960. Her thirst for knowledge, love of discourse and quest for diversity of ideas and opinions is what patrons and guests of the museum - and I - find truly inspiring”.

Glazomitsky’s experience in overseeing museum-wide initiatives, audience development and strategic planning is well-matched to NHM’s current priorities. Sarah Biller, who chaired the Executive Director Search Committee, says “the outgoing Director, Flavia Cigliano, has built a strong foundation for the Nichols House Museum. We are looking forward to collaborating with Victoria on this exciting new phase for the Nichols House.”

Glazomitsky is a frequent presenter at the American Alliance of Museums annual meetings and webinars, and a graduate of the Getty Leadership Institute’s prestigious Next Generation of Museum Leaders Program. She holds a double B.S. in Art History and International Management from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Originally from Russia, she is a native Russian speaker. She lives with her partner, Todd McKay, in East Boston where she is an active member of her community and involved in several arts and culture focused groups and programs.
