BOSTON, MASS.- On Thursday, January 29th, at the annual Boston Society of Architects Design Awards Gala at the InterContinental Boston, Ann Beha Architects was awarded The Hobson for the firm’s work on Shelburne Museum’s Pizzagalli Center for Art and Education.

The Hobson is an Honor Award, the highest level of distinction. It is named for Henry Hobson Richardson, the famous Massachusetts architect who lent his name to the influential Richardsonian Romanesque style of buildings.

Steven Gerrard, AIA, Senior Associate at Ann Beha Architects and designer of the Pizzagalli Center said, “the competition for BSA awards is very tough, so we consider this an important recognition of the design by our peers. We share this honor with [Shelburne Museum] and the entire project team.”

Thomas Denenberg, Director of Shelburne Museum said of the announcement, “the board and staff of Shelburne Museum could not be more pleased by this important honor. The Pizzagalli Center represents the bright future of Electra Havemeyer Webb’s vision. It is an elegant and beautifully functional space that honors our founder’s inclusive sense of community by allowing us to present enchanting programs and exhibitions throughout the year. My sincere thanks to our many donors and the dedicated project team for this wonderful building.”

The award-winning Pizzagalli Center for Art and Education is open year-round. Winter hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Two exceptional exhibitions are currently on view. “Kodachrome Memory: American Pictures 1972 - 1990” is a solo exhibition of the photographs of acclaimed National Geographic photographer, Nathan Benn. “Natural Beauties: Jewelry from Art Nouveau to Now ” includes nature influenced designs by Tiffany & Co and other world class designers. Education programs for children and adults are on going.
