DUBAI.- Ayyam Gallery Dubai (Al Quoz) invites you to a new edition of The Young Collectors Auction on Tuesday, 10 February at 7PM. Featuring sixty-seven lots, the auction will present both emerging and established Middle Eastern artists with an eclectic selection of works including painting, photography, limited-edition prints, sculpture, and installation.
In response to the recent devastating meteorological events affecting Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan, ten of the lots will be dedicated to charitable organisations lending help in the camps. These artworks are part of Syrias Apex Generation, a group show that brought together five young Syrian painters and toured Ayyams outposts in 2014. Including works by Kais Salman, Mohannad Orabi, Othman Moussa, Nihad Al Turk, and Abdul Karim Majdal Al-Beik, the exhibition highlighted a long standing tradition of Syrian painting, all the while emphasising its evolution after the 2011 uprising.
The auction will also bring forth seminal works by protagonists of Arab modernism, such as Fateh Moudarres, featured with two masterful examples of his highly symbolic expressionist painting. Ismail Fattah, Paul Guiragossian, and Naim Ismail join the auctions line up of sought-after masters of Arab art, each embodying highly influential styles of Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria, respectively.
Highlights of the contemporary section include a super shiny stainless steel sculpture by renowned Lebanese artist and architect Nadim Karam, known for transforming urban environments into futuristic places built on dreams. His Spring Burst Cloud (2013) will appear alongside sculptures of bronze and marble by acclaimed Syrian artists like Mustafa Ali and Fadi Yazigi. Gathered under the umbrella of digital art and photography, a young generation of talents such as Mohammad Badr and Marwa Adel will be showcased next to acclaimed Iranian artist Alireza Fani with deeply spiritual, socially engaged, and poetically whimsical works.
Aiming to make the auction experience and the appreciation of art accessible and enjoyable to all, The Young Collectors Auction welcomes the public to a viewing from 1-9 February from 10am - 6pm with artwork lots on display and specialists on hand available to answer any questions.
