LONDON.- Modern Art announces a solo exhibition of new sculptures by David Altmejd. This is Altmejd’s fourth solo show with Modern Art.
This exhibition is comprised of a number of head-like sculptures that stand on tables and plinths.
David Altmejd lives and works in New York, NY, USA. He was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1974, and holds an MA Fine Art from Columbia University, New York, NY, USA (2001), and a BA Fine Art from Universit du Qubec Montral, Montreal, Canada (1998).
In 2007 Altmejd represented Canada at the Venice Biennale. His work has previously been the subject of solo exhibitions including The Orbit, MOCA Cleveland, Cleveland, OH, USA (2012); Brant Foundation Art Study Center, Greenwich CT, USA (2011); Le Magasin, Centre National d’Art Contemporain de Grenoble, Grenoble, France (2009); Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, CO, USA (2007); Metamorphosis, Oakville Galleries in Gairloch Gardens, Oakville, Ontario, Canada, travelling to Galerie de l’UQAM, Montreal, Canada and Illingworth Kerr Gallery, Alberta College of Art & Design, Calgary, Canada (2007). Altmejd’s work has been included in exhibitions including Builders, Canadian Biennial 2012, National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, ON, Canada (2012); Mondes invents, Mondes habits, MUDAM Muse d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Luxembourg (2011); Skin Fruit, New Museum, New York, NY, USA (2010); Made Up, Liverpool Biennial, Tate Liverpool, Liverpool (2008); The Qubec Triennial: Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed, Muse D’Art Contemporain de Montral, Montreal, Canada (2008); Whitney Biennial 2004, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY, USA (2004); and the 8th International Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul, Turkey (2003).
David Altmejd’s current solo exhibition Flux at Muse d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Paris, France (2014-2015), travels to MUDAM Muse d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Luxembourg, in March and Muse D’Art Contemporain de Montral, Montreal, Canada, in June this year.
