LONDON.- Vastaris launch of VTEN: Vastari Travelling Exhibition Network has received an overwhelming amount of support. Over 100 museums have now signed up and registered more than 40 exhibitions ranging from fine art to design to antiquities.
VTEN allows museum directors, curators and registrars to pose exhibitions for sale to other institutions worldwide. Using VTEN, institutions will be able to search for second venues for their exhibitions as well as find new exhibitions to fit into their exhibition calendar.
Registered users will be able to access an organised menu of exhibitions available for sale as well as upload an unlimited amount of exhibitions that they are interested in promoting. Institutions interested in an exhibition will be able to contact the organiser directly using the Vastari messaging system.
VTEN is an international online market space for renting and offering exhibitions between museums. Since no large investment is needed, museums of all sizes can join this network and start offering their exhibitions for loan. It provides an opportunity for especially medium-sized museums, such as ours, to participate (better) in the international exhibition exchange network and expanding their international exhibition rental business states Denise de Boer from the Amsterdam Museum.
Several points make VTEN unique. To begin, VTEN includes exhibitions from any and all disciplines, sizes and geographical locations. Additionally, institutions using VTEN will also be able to access Vastari to add privately owned works from the database, thus enhancing the exhibition. Lastly, Vastari is allowing a select group of collectors to showcase their collections as a whole and pose them to museum curators as an exhibition.
During its first live month, VTEN has already established two successful international connections that will take place in the next two years. One is an important impressionist exhibition and the other is one of the top collections of contemporary Chinese art that will be placed as an exhibition at an important European museum.
I have a collection that is worthy of travelling the world and I am extremely excited about the collaborations that will be possible through VTEN notes an important private collector from Zurich.
Although the beta version was originally limited to existing Vastari members, due to popular demand, from the 20th of November those interested in VTEN who are not yet members of Vastari will be able to apply for a membership.
