Yayoi Kusamas Infinity-Nets (OPARHJ) (2012). Japanese-born artist Yayoi Kusama has been painting Infinity Nets since her arrival in New York in the late 1950s. Kusamas obsession with patterns and repetitious dots led her to paint this visually complex motif, now widely recognized as one of her most important series. For over 50 years, Kusama has continued to examine her Infinity Nets series, resulting in iconic paintings and installations.
In this later example of Kusamas Infinity Nets series, dated 2012, the artists signature psychedelic color palette is ever apparent. Sweeping circular strokes of pink layer on top of a deep virescent background, highlighted with vibrant accents of green that punctuate the painting. The meticulous accumulation of color creates a tremendous sense of depth, seeming to pulsate throughout the work. Kusamas composition is deeply engaging, successfully breaking the boundary of the canvas.
This exceptional painting has an estimate of $400,000 to 600,000, and is live for bidding through November 25, 2014. View details or bid now,
