LOS ANGELES, CA.- An iconic and imposing 7-foot tall batsuit worn by Michael Keaton in Tim Burton’s 1989 flick “Batman” and Joan Crawford’s polka-dot hero dress from her 1945 Academy Award winning performance for Best Actress in “Mildred Pierce” highlight Nate D. Sanders’ Oscars Auction on February 27. Interested bidders may participate in the auction online.

The batsuit is labeled, “Michael Keaton #1” and is displayed on a mannequin with Keaton’s chiseled face mounted to a pedestal with the Batman logo engraved on its facade. It features the trademark cape and cowl style mask with long black leather gloves, boots and gold plastic belt and bat symbol.

Burton’s film “Batman” was made for $48 million, but netted an astonishing $411 million at the box office in 1989. It received an Academy Award for Best Art Direction. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts nominated the film in six categories including Best Costume Design and Makeup. In 2003, the American Film Institute recognized Keaton’s Batman character” as the 46th greatest hero in their retrospective, “100 Years...100 Heroes and Villains.”

Crawford Dress Featured in Film and Posters
Crawford adorned her famous polka-dot dress in her masterpiece “Mildred Pierce.” The light nude-colored rayon dress features polka dots in a darker nude shade. The design includes a slightly A-line cut skirt, long sleeves, pleated bodice and square neckline flanked by a simple bow on either side. Crawford also wore the dress in the “Mildred Pierce” promotional posters.

Crawford’s career appeared to be on the wane after leaving the glamorous Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures. She signed with Warner Brothers where she worked with “Casablanca” director Michael Curtiz in “Mildred Pierce” earning an Oscar for Best Actress at the 1946 Academy Awards.

In 1999, the American Film Institute named Crawford named the 10th greatest female star of all-time.

Also featured in Nate D. Sanders’ Oscars Auction are lifejackets worn by Richard Dreyfuss, Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider and Steven Spielberg in the 1975 blockbuster film “Jaws”, Charlton Heston’s screen-used ''Planet of the Apes'' prop rifle along with his belt worn in the Cecil B. DeMille’s 1959 epic “Ben Hur” and Heath Ledger’s plaid shirt and undershirt from the revolutionary gay cowboy flick ''Brokeback Mountain''.
