NEW YORK, NY.- This year at Frieze New York, the Frieze Projects program will feature seven site-specific Projects, situated both within the fair and outdoors in Randall's Island Park.

Darren Bader, Eduardo Basualdo, Eva Kotátková, Marie Lorenz, Koki Tanaka and Naama Tsabar will take inspiration from the history of Randall's Island as a place of leisure and recreation to create works that reflect on the role and use of free time in our society. Visitors will be able to participate in a number of the Projects and short circuit the usual activities of the fair, with immersive and interactive artworks which include a boat ride around the island, a mini-music festival and an impossible soccer pitch.

The program will also feature a special tribute to Al’s Grand Hotel – a legendary project realized by Allen Ruppersberg in 1971 in Los Angeles – which will be restaged at Frieze New York 2014 in collaboration with Public Fiction. The hotel will be re-imagined and installed within the fair, featuring a lobby, two rooms and a series of new interventions; and visitors will be able to books rooms to stay in the hotel overnight.

Curated by Cecilia Alemani, Frieze Projects is realized annually at Frieze New York, showcasing newly commissioned works by international artists.

Frieze New York will take place from May 9–12, 2014. Presenting over 190 of the world’s leading galleries, Frieze New York is sponsored by Deutsche Bank.
