COPENHAGEN.- CHART | ART FAIR is the new art fair in Copenhagen and the first in Denmark to focus exclusively on contemporary art. The fair takes place from August 30th to September 1st 2013 at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, in the heart of the city.
For its first edition, CHART | ART FAIR presents the best contemporary art galleries from the Nordic region, featuring 22 carefully selected galleries from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
CHART | ART FAIR is born from a unique vision within the contemporary art market, inspired by a Scandinavian notion of collaboration: it proposes a new working model to all exhibitors, where participants are asked to unite efforts, working towards a common goal in the spirit of group endeavor.
In addition to the main fair, CHART | ART FAIR includes a Special Projects section, which displays large-scale projects and installations in a purposely dedicated room and throughout the premises. This section includes, amongst others, Tacita Dean, Graham Dolphin, Ólafur Elíasson, Antony Gormley, Michael Johansson, Gunilla Klingberg, Bjørn Nørgaard and Lawrence Weiner.
CHART | ART FAIR also features a collateral program of talks, performances and special events curated in collaboration with Kunsthal Charlottenborg, and a film program curated by CPH:DOX. CHART TALKS has invited a number of high profile guests to talk on the theme of commissioning contemporary art. Guests include: Will Bradley, Luca Cerizza, Bruno Ceschel, Olafur Eliasson, Eungie Joo, Daniel McClean, Sune Nordgren and Nato Thompson.
Internationally renowned Danish architect Bjarke Ingels has made a special installation for CHART | ART FAIR in the courtyard of Kunsthal Charlottenborg. Here, a grand opening party will celebrate the CHART | ART FAIRs first edition in the evening of Friday 30th of August with gourmet food stalls, bars and a live music line-up which includes the likes of Vinnie Who and Lust for Youth.
