Eskenazi Ltd. appoints new company Director
Sarah Wong, new company director of Eskenazi Ltd.

LONDON.- Giuseppe Eskenazi is delighted to announced that Sarah Wong has been appointed a company director of Eskenazi Ltd with effect from 1 July 2013.

An Oxford graduate in English Literature with a master’s degree in Chinese studies from Harvard University , Sarah first joined the company in 1993 as Gallery Assistant. She then moved to New York to work for Christie’s, rising to become Assistant Vice President and Art Specialist in the Chinese Department.

She returned to Eskenazi Ltd in 1999 and, with the exception of a short interval spent in Dublin working freelance, has been a much-valued member of the team ever since and has greatly contributed to the research and the cataloguing of exhibitions.

The Eskenazi family business was founded in Milan in 1923 and today the company enjoys a distinguished international reputation as one of the leading names in the field of Chinese art. 2010 marked the 50th anniversary of the founding of the London gallery which is a magnet for collectors and curators in this field.

Eskenazi’s exhibitions are renowned, as are the scholarly publications that accompany them and many of the latter are collectors’ items in their own right. In 2012 Giuseppe , in collaboration with Hajni Elias, published his memoirs entitled A Dealer’s Hand. The Chinese Art World Through the Eyes of Giuseppe Eskenazi (Eskenazi Ltd./Scala). This sumptuous book, relating the story of Giuseppe ’s progression from young boy in Constantinople to doyen of Chinese art dealers, is a timely reminder that China ’s material culture has never failed to entrance and amaze those looking in from outside.

Eskenazi Ltd’s annual autumn exhibition, on view from 31 October to 22 November 2013, will present exquisite pieces of Jun ware, dating from the Northern Song period (960-1127) to the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), to coincide with the 16th Asian Art in London (31 October to 9 November), the annual event that unites London’s Asian art dealers, major auction houses and societies in a series of selling exhibitions, auctions, receptions, lectures and seminars, attracting collectors from around the globe. The accompanying publication will include an essay by Sarah Wong.
