MUNICH.- For her first institutional show in Germany, British artist Rebecca Warren (born 1965 in London, UK) has made a new body of work specifically for Kunstverein Munich, following renowned exhibitions at The Renaissance Society (2010), Serpentine Gallery (2009) and Kunsthalle Zurich (2004). Alongside works in bronze, clay and mixed media – materials familiar to the artist – this exhibition will also feature her recent experimentation with moving image.

Fundamental to Warren’s working process is the arrangement of artworks in such a way that their material properties react and recur in combination within a specific setting.

Warren merges private ideas of authenticity and influence into spatial assemblage and public experience. She often uses the sculptural process of casting in which originals and copies, references and appropriations can interchange. The seven large, individually painted bronzes displayed together in a row across Kunstverein Munich's galleries work to disperse and multiply certain shared formal elements throughout the exhibition.

In the new film work, Warren has incorporated the moving image into her sculptural language. By the simple means of a handful of elements – a projector, plinths, a board, a mirror – she sets in motion an elegant system of image dispersion, reflection, refocus and break-up.
