BEVERLY HILLS, CA.- Julien’s Auctions, the world’s premier entertainment celebrity memorabilia auction house held its Hollywood Legends auction event this weekend which featured over 800 items at Julien’s Auctions Gallery in Beverly Hills. The auction featured exceptional screen worn wardrobes, props, photographs, jewelry and celebrity owned items.
A highlight of the auction included the Star Trek William Shatner Pilot Laser Rifle which sold for a record $231,000. The phaser rifle from the second pilot of Star Trek was created at the request of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry in the 1960s. Other extraterrestrial highlights included the Alien Survey Buggy seen aboard the Nostromo in the movie Alien (1979) which sold for $10,625 and the Stargate Carlos Lauchu Anubis complete elaborate costume (1994) worn in the film which sold for $16,250.
Unique to this auction was an unsurpassed collection of publicity stills and photographs from over 6000 films from some of the earliest days of Hollywood and through the 1960s and exceptional Hollywood ephemera. Highlights included a Cleopatra Films Image archive which sold for $6,875 and a complete archive of Academy Award winner autographs which sold for $15,625.
The Green Hornet and his trusty sidekick Kato cruised the streets of Los Angeles in a tricked out 1965 Imperial Crown nicknamed Black Beauty. In the 2011 production of The Green Hornet Columbia pictures built and destroyed a number of these cars during production. Julien’s Auctions presented the one vehicle to survive intact which sold for $46,875. A Claudette Colbert Cleopatra cape sold for $5,625, the Wizard of Oz Munchkins Flower Pot hat sold for $15,000, Frank Sinatra’s original signed abstract painting sold for $21,250, while his former love Mia Farrow’s owned Salvador Dali signed book sold for 6,875 and the Grace Kelly Helen Rose Wedding gown sketch sold for $8,125. A Christopher Reeve Superman IV flying suit sold for $25,000.
An extraordinary offering of items from screen goddess Marilyn Monroe served as one of the many highlights of the highly anticipated events. The film legend’s nightshirt sold for $15,000, Marilyn Monroe negatives with copyright sold for $7,000 and her bra from the “Some Like It Hot” gown sold for $28,125. A Marilyn Monroe signed check sold for $3,437.50, a Marilyn Monroe personally owned cocktail dress sold for $25,000 and a pair of Marilyn Monroe owned Capo di Monte cups and saucers sold for $17,500.
