MADRID.- The eighth edition of Art Madrid, the Contemporary Art Fair, will count with the participation of 40 national and international galleries, and will open its doors from 13 to 17 February in its new location, the attic of the Chamartín station.

In tune with the changes of the art market and, in particular, of the galleries business model, Art Madrid has decided to design a new fair model, advocating to increase the quality and produce a smaller format, with the presence of 40 galleries. On the other hand, Art Madrid doubles its annual presence with a first call from 13 to 17 February 2013 and the following one in November. This double call aims at galleries and, therefore, its artists have greater visibility throughout the year.

Another change is the new location, from the Casa de Campo to the Attic of the Chamartín Train Station. This new space has three wide open and vaulted halls, perfect for a Contemporary art fair, with a spacious 2,500 square meters of exhibition. In addition, the new location will provide better access to a greater number of visitors, who can arrive by car, underground and commuter trains.

Besides the General Program, the fair also maintains One Project, the fair's big bet for young art, with the presence of new and unconventional media. One Project, curated by the art critic Javier Rubio Nomblot, welcomes galleries taking part with a specific project of one artist younger than 40 years of age, in a solo format.

Picasso, Miró, Dalí, Braque, Leger, Bourgeois, Katz, Hirst, Caro...
The 40 galleries present in Art Madrid will display works from more than 200 national and international artists, with the latest trends of Spanish and international contemporary art and including the historical avant-gardes of the 20th century. The fair invites their visitors to stroll along its 2,500 square meter's display, transformed into a great contemporary art gallery, where the collector and the amateur can watch a selection of the great masters of the historical avant-gardes, such as Picasso, Masson, Miró, Dalí, Vasarely, Leger, Braque, Calder, Karel Appel, Alechinsky, Le Corbusier, Niki de Saint Phalle, Sonia Delaunay, Vasarely or Wilfredo Lam, among others. Besides them there are some of the most important creators of the second half of the last century and beginnings of this one, like Louise Bourgeois, Damien Hirst, Alex Katz, Anthony Caro, Christo, Sam Francis, Arman, Adami or the transvanguardist Mimmo Paladino.

Art Madrid has always been characterized by presenting in each edition the great names of contemporary Spanish art, and this time won't miss the date either. There will be works form Tàpies, Antonio López, Chillida, Valdes, Equipo Crónica or Arroyo, among others. Not to mention his predecessors (Torres-García, Bonifacio, Blanchard or Óscar Domínguez) or representatives of later generations, such as Barceló, Plensa, Uslé, José Manuel Ballester, Miquel Navarro or Mascaró.

Among the long list of young artists presents in this edition, we might quote Fabio Camarotta, Héctor Francesch, Sito Mujica or Xurxo Gómez Chao and, within the program One Project, the works of Jorge Usán and Fany Kano, Evelyn Hellenschmidt and Tonia Trujillo, or the artist books presented by Hila Tina. Finally, and besides the works from some of the artists mentioned above, we can stand out the sculptures from Marcel Camps, Etienne Krähenbül and Jorge Usán, all included in the One Project program.
Parallel Activities

The artist Miguel Angel Belinchón "Belin" (www.belin.es/), specialized in urban art and graffiti, in collaboration with Montana Colors, will paint during the fair a giant wall 10 m. long and 3'22 m. high, in the exterior wall of the building that holds Art Madrid. In addition, and inside the fair, will show several of his works on canvas too.

Besides, in the exterior terrace of the fair and open to the public, will be installed and exhibition of sculpture. The works are from the Sculture group Mínimo Tamaño Grande composed, among others, by artists such as Diego Canogar and José Luis Menéndez.

Art Madrid hosts too an exhibition of costumes by well-known artists like Genovés, Luis Gordillo or Rafael Canogar, among others, within the Fashion Art Project, which seeks to offer the most outstanding artists of the pictorial scene a new and exceptional support: different dress for each artist, on which the creators can make a unique work. Designed by Manuel Fernández, intervened dresses represent the adaptation between fashion design and painting, to create a new language, with a total plastic work.

Finally, created and directed by the choreographer Azahara Ubera Biedma, Thursday 15th the fair will held the performance-instalation "Skin is an unstable metal", a journey from the individual to the collective body with the deconstruction of the archetype of the hero. Based on a game with several superhero's capes, a group of women transmutes the individual action of the superhero as an absurd character toward a collective and vulnerable body, where the unity is its greatest strength.
Art Madrid and the Social Networks

This edition of Art Madrid is more alive than ever in the social networks and fans and followers can follow it minute by a minute, reflected in the official website (www.art-madrid.com), which has been renewed completely, Twitter (@ArtMadrid13), or Facebook. In this respect, all the latest news and updates from the fair, as well as interviews with gallerists, artists, etc., can be followed in the web www.madridartprocess.com. Also Art Madrid collaborated with the art project "Art and a Coffee", organized by the www.veo-arte.com website

On the other hand, in collaboration with Arte Oculto Madrid (Madrid Hidden Art) (www.arteocultomadrid.com), Art Madrid invites all the artists and cultural media who wish to participate, in a project to show his work in a big wall inside the fair. It will be developed with data from websites, blogs, etc., of the artists, that will be later transformed into QR codes. This means the addition to the fair of more than 500 artists, through their virtual work.
