LONDON.- In direct contradiction to Frieze Art Fair, Parallax Art Fair will welcome over 200 assorted artists from a collection of different countries, including for the first time Syria, Oman, Pakistan, India, Brazil and Nigeria, who represent themselves. Produced and curated by Dr. Chris Barlow, Parallax Art Fair is extremely diverse, ranging in cultural and artistic variety. The heart of the fair is the practical exploration of new ideas developing on the fringe of art history. The fair’s ‘no superiority’ philosophy makes a statement about the problems concerning knowledge acquisition and objects designated as contemporary art.

Highlighted artists include Adib Fattal from Syria, whose vibrant, full-of-character and somewhat fairy-tale-like paintings depict scenes of naïve happiness and content, contradictory to the struggles and efforts to re-establish relations between the West and Syria in the current day. Uk artist Alex Dipple generates graphic-like work using copies of the Evening Standard newspaper, cutting off the consumable information and replacing it with recurring lines that form puzzles. Simon Hall, also UK based, explores issues around global warming through powerful photographs of melting icebergs. Herrarium, German-born but now working in Spain, produces relief sculptures studying the interface of geography and art, including landscapes of supermarket meat.

Although we now have US editions and upcoming shows in Europe, Middle East and Asia, London is always a special event for us.”

Parallax Art Fair is free to attend, but donations on the door go towards to the PAF Benevolent fund for the children of artists.
