Arte Primitivo’s absentee bidding format allows bidders to register and then place bids at their own pace right up until each auction’s unique closing time. Everything in the auction is an authentic, quality item. All art has been legally acquired and is legal to sell. The first part of Arte Primitivo’s June 18th auction features a rare selection of Egyptian lithics and artifacts from ancient Egypt deaccessioned from The Heckscher Museum of Art, Long Island, NY., ex. Robert Rustafjaell collection, acquired prior to 1909. Followed by numerous lots of fine Oceanographic and tribal art including a fine 19th century Bakota Reliquary or “ngulu”, with 1930’s Paris provenance. Also a very Important Mayan Royal Lidded Cache Vessel dating to the Pre-Classic period, ca. 250-450 A.D.., ex. Christie’s, Paris, April 14, 2004, (sale 5088), lot #418. ex. Al Stendahl collection, 1970s will be spotlighted in this sale.

Beginning at Lot 113, you’ll find a great Maori Nephrite Tiki pendant and the beginning of several Hawaiian and South Seas artifacts. The variety of ancient art continues with a quality selection of Greek, Roman, pre-Columbian and Egyptian antiquities. Some of the notable pieces in the pre-Columbian category are a Teotihuacan Greenstone Maskette, Ca. 300-700 A.D., A very nice Jalisco Seated Female Figure, ca. 200 BCE - 200 AD, Ex Crawford & Walter Knox Collection along with a large selection of pre-Columbian gold objects.
