SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- It was announced today that Chris Byrne and John Sughrue, founders of the Dallas Art Fair, will lead the management team of FOG, a new modernism art and design fair that will benefit the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).

FOG will take place January 16 to 20, 2013, at the historical Fort Mason Festival Pavilion located on the San Francisco Bay within the beautiful Golden Gate National Recreation Area. A special preview gala, also benefitting SFMOMA, will launch the FOG Fair on Wednesday, January 16, and will give design and art patrons the opportunity to preview the exhibits prior to the public opening of the fair.

The new fair will feature the most prominent 20th-century decorative and fine arts dealers from across the United States and Europe, as well a selection of today’s most exciting contemporary art galleries. Participating galleries will include local cornerstones such as John Berggruen Gallery, Fraenkel Gallery, Hedge, Anthony Meier Fine Arts, andSilverman. The fair’s steering committee will consist of Douglas Durkin, Stanlee Gatti, Katie Paige, Allison Speer, and Cathy Topham. Gatti’s widely acclaimed showcase of artisans and craftsmen, 21 POP, will also return to San Francisco at FOG.

SFMOMA is dedicated to the idea that art and museums can transform lives. By embracing the challenge of the new and unexpected, we hope to encourage fresh ways of seeing, thinking, and engaging with the world.

The museum has a long history of excellence in exhibiting and collecting the foremost artists and designers of our time. But we also strive continuously to expand the range of cultural experiences we offer, and to provide as many ways as possible to make the art meaningful and accessible for our community.

Proceeds from the FOG Preview Gala support SFMOMA’s celebrated exhibitions and enable the museum to serve more than 50,000 students, teachers, and families each year through innovative education programs.
