LONDON.- Content design and creation company, Somethin Else has been appointed by BBC Learning to produce a series of entertaining short films (10x6) aimed at getting 7-11 year old children interested in art and art galleries.
The films complement the BBCs
Your Paintings website, which is a joint initiative with the Public Catalogue Foundation and participating collections and museums in the UK . They will also air in BBC Learning Zones late-night educational programming block on BBC Two on the night of April 16th/ morning of April 17th and be added to the Learning Zones Class Clips online database.
Presented by Eleanor Nairne who holds an MA in History of Art and works as the collections coordinator for arts organisation Artangel each film sees her dive into the illustrated and animated world of an oil painting; the ten paintings have been selected from a range of eras and art movements and can be found in galleries across the UK as well as on the Your Paintings site. She explores the painting as it comes to life around her, giving a light-hearted and humorous introduction to its style, the artist and the historical context.
