LONDON.- Seventeen art works by the celebrated graffiti artist, Banksy, will be available to photograph at Bonhams, New Bond Street, ahead of the Urban Art Sale, which takes place on 29 March 2012.

One of the highlights is a screen print of British supermodel Kate Moss, 2005, inspired by Andy Warhol’s iconic Marilyn Monroe series, which has been estimated at £30,000 – 50,000. It will be on display alongside Warhol’s screenprint of a Dollar Sign (estimate £20,000 – 30,000), which is part of the Contemporary Two: Modern Design sale, also on 29 March 2012.

One of the highlights of the Urban Art Sale is Banksy’s Leopard and Barcode, acquired directly from an exhibition entitled Existencilism at the 33 1/3 Gallery, Los Angeles by the present owner, which has never before been seen at auction and has attracted a pre-sale estimate of £60,000 – 80,000.

The sale features a number of outstanding Banksy originals including Girl and Balloon, 2009 (estimate £15,000 – 25,000), where the artist has painted his iconic image directly onto the cardboard backing of an Ikea frame. Next to the Swedish company’s label on the reverse he has added the words ‘high quality’.

Other highlights include Bomb Hugger, 2002 (estimate £40,000 – 60,000) and Love is in the Air, 2002 (estimate £40,000 – 60,000), both acquired from the Existencilism exhibition in Los Angeles; while more affordable works include CND Soldiers, 2006 (estimate £3,000 – 5,000; Nola (Pea Green/Blue Rain), 2008 (estimate £5,000 – 8,000); Trolleys, 2007 (estimate £3,000 – 5,000); and Morons, 2007 (estimate £3,000 – 5,000).

Three portraits by American contemporary artist and graphic designer, Shepard Fairey, best-known for his iconic Barack Obama Change poster in support of Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, will also be on show. They include Debby Harry, 2010; Flava Flav, 2002; and one of the presidential campaign series, Hope, featuring Obama.
