HARRODSBURG, KY.- Following a national search, the appointment of Maynard Crossland for the position of President/CEO of Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, Kentucky.

Maynard comes to Shaker Village after 19 years with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (IHPA) headquartered in Springfield, Illinois, where he managed a budget of $20 million, a staff of over 200 and 60 historical sites and monuments. Recently Maynard also consulted with non profit organizations and communities on historic preservation and development.

“My wife Gail and I are thrilled to be a part of this magnificent site. Shaker Village is not only an important part of Kentucky history, it is also a vital component to the story of America,” Maynard said. “Together with the Board of Trustees, I look forward to growing the programs and services at Shaker Village and expanding our opportunities to share the Shaker story.”

Shaker Village’s devoted Trustees include leaders in business and academia. Board Chairman Jim Kenan said, “Maynard Crossland was the unanimous choice. He has a pragmatic, business like approach to historic sites. The Board looks forward to working closely with Maynard to preserve Shaker Village for future generations.”

The Village is the largest restored Shaker site in the U.S. and a National Historic Landmark, with 3,000 acres, an Inn, restaurant, gardens and a rich variety of programs and events.
