SYRACUSE, NY.- The Everson Museum of Art will offer a unique Artist Open, Verse in Person: Secret Poetry, on July 9 at 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

“We are pleased to be able to partner with local poets for this exciting reading,” said Pam McLaughlin, Everson Curator of Education and Public Programs. “The theme of secrets will provide for thought provoking poems.”

Poets from two Central New York literary institutions, including members of the faculty of the Downtown Writer's Center and the editorial staff of the Comstock Review, will share new works created for this special reading. Each poet will read poems based on the theme of secrets to coincide with the PostSecret exhibition as another extension of community involvement.

Participating Poets include:

John Bellinger is the managing editor of the Comstock Review and a lifetime resident of the Eastern suburbs of Syracuse . He has been writing poetry for 30 plus years and has been published in Small Pond Magazine and The Comstock Review and in the e-zine BloodrootZ.

Anne Fitzgerald is an associate editor of the Comstock Review, actress, and scenic artist. Anne has been a resident of Syracuse for the past 13 years and is an infusion nurse for Coram Healthcare.

Cathy Gibbons is a poet, visual artist, and graphic designer. A Syracuse resident, Cathy has designed the covers for the Comstock Review for many years and currently works for the Post-Standard.

Kate Murphy is a resident of Skaneateles and an associate editor of the Comstock Review. Kate's poems have appeared in many literary journals, including Kalliope, The International Journal of Applied Science, and Melic Review. She has also published several essays in The Sun and is the author of the chapbook When We Thought of War (Pudding House Publications).

Georgia Popoff has two books of poetry, Coaxing Nectar from Longing and The Doom Weaver, and a chapbook published in the Pudding House Greatest Hits series. She is a member of the Comstock Review editorial board and a faculty member of the Downtown Writer's Center

Elizabeth Twiddy has an MFA from the Syracuse University Creative Writing Program and is a faculty member of the Downtown Writer's Center. Poems have appeared in Stone Canoe, Two Rivers Review, POOL. Her chapbook Zoo Animals in the Rain is soon to be released by Turtle Ink Press.
