LONG BEACH, CA.- Richard P. Townsend, President and CEO of the Museum of Latin American Art, announced the appointment today of Cecilia Fajardo-Hill as Vice President of Curatorial Affairs and Chief Curator of the Museum of Latin American Art. Ms. Fajardo-Hill will begin her new position on August 17, 2009. In her new role at MOLAA, Ms. Fajardo-Hill will work together with Mr. Townsend in developing MOLAA into a dynamic institution with a multifaceted program of 20th and 21st-century Latin American art ranging from groundbreaking exhibitions of major masters to those that explore major issues of our time to cutting edge programs that emphasize innovation and current trends.

As the head of the curatorial team and as a member of senior management, Ms. Fajardo-Hill will lead the museum’s collections and exhibition program—including the research, cataloguing, care, display and interpretation of the artworks—and building of the museum’s collection. She will also work closely with Mr. Townsend on strengthening MOLAA’s network of relationships with important arts institutions throughout the Americas and worldwide.
