Saint Louis Art Museum Announces January Family Sundays

SAINT LOUIS, MO.- The Saint Louis Art Museum announces Family Sundays: Artists Have Feelings Too, a program of art projects and tours for families each Sunday in January from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

Artist often communicate feelings through their paintings, sculptures, and other artworks. Each Sunday in January, pick up a scavenger hunt and seek out art that shows emotions. Then join the Family Sundays program in Sculpture Hall to make your own mood-filled masterpiece.

On Sunday, January 25, 2009 "Sis Boom Bah," a group of artists and musicians, will play inspirational mood music during the Family Sundays program. Other art projects for the month will explore various moods through music. Museum staff plan to experiment with playing different types of music then ask the children to create a work of art and see how the music affected their mood.

Each Sunday at 2:30 pm, a lively 30-minute tour will guide families through the Museum's collection and highlight pieces that inspired the art projects. The Museum's Family Sundays are supported by Macy's.

The Saint Louis Art Museum is one of the nation's leading comprehensive art museums with collections that include works of art of exceptional quality from virtually every culture and time period. Areas of notable depth include Oceanic art, pre-Columbian art, ancient Chinese bronzes and European and American art of the late 19th and 20th centuries, with particular strength in 20th-century German art. The Museum offers a full range of exhibitions and educational programming generated independently and in collaboration with local, national and international partners.
