Christie's Spanish Art Sale in Madrid Totals $7.7 Million |

MADRID.- Yesterday's Spanish Art Sale held in Madrid totaled 5.575.450/£4,404,606/$7,749,876. The sale's top lot was the painting Matisse como pretexto by Manolo Valdés, which achieved 505.000 and set new a world record for the artist. Juan Varez, Managing Director of Christie's Spain, commented: "Christie's Spanish Art art sale witnessed a packed saleroom and continued its tradition of setting strong prices works by Spanish Contemporary artists. This evening's sale established ten world auction records for artists Manolo Valdés, Pablo Palazuelo, Baltasar Lobo, Juan Uslé, Martín Chirino, Moisés Villèlia, Agustín Esteve y Marqués, Susy Gómez, Daniel G. Verbis, and Guillermo Pérez Villalta."
