LEWISTON, NY.- The Castellani Art Museum, located in Lewiston, New York, is trying to find a very important painting by American artist Jed Jackson. The painting titled “Arkansas Sunset” (1980) was purchased from the Arkansas Art Center Delta exhibition in Little Rock in 1980. As the artist recalls, “the painting was purchased by a prominent rice farmer in central Arkansas.” Unfortunately this is where the trail ends…..as records of who purchased this painting are incomplete.

This painting was featured as the album cover art for the modern mega-rock band, the Goo Goo Dolls, 1989 album. The Castellani Art Museum is searching for this painting, which measures approximately 40 x 40 inches, to be included in an upcoming exhibition of the artist’s work in early 2009.

“It feels like a modern-day Indiana Jones expedition…except the whip and Colt revolver are replaced with phones and email,” exclaimed the exhibition Curator Michael Beam.

“We hope that the generosity of the central Arkansas print and television media will help us in the quest to find this famous painting by their own native son—Jed Jackson.”

Please contact Michael Beam, Curator of Exhibitions, Castellani Art Museum at 716-286-8286 if you know the owner of this important and historical artwork.
