Jersey City Museum Presents Afternoon Delight: Leon Yost |

JERSEY CITY, NJ.-Jersey City Museum presents popular award-winning photographer Leon Yost who will provide poignant insights on Jersey City landmarks in the slide talk, Changing Jersey City, 100 years of Defining Photographs. During the talk, Yost will discuss images of various locations in Jersey City that have been photographed 100 years apart.
Leon Yost has lived in Jersey City since 1974. His documentary photography has been published by Time-Life Books and the New York Times and he has consulted for BBC Television. Yost received New Jersey State Council on the Arts fellowship in 1986 and a Pew Foundation fellowship in 1998. He has had 27 solo photographic exhibitions including one at the Museum of Man in San Diego. In addition, Yost photographs Jersey City for the annual Jersey City calendar, now in its tenth year of publication.
Afternoon Delight for Seniors is a monthly event aimed to please and appeal to the wise and worldly. This program features historians, lecturers, musicians, dancers, story-tellers and artists whose works and ideas appeal to folks of every age.
Founded in 1901, the Jersey City Museum is the major presenter of contemporary art serving the people of Jersey City, Hudson County and the region. The museum organizes many group and solo exhibitions every year, featuring works by culturally diverse, contemporary artists and from its 10,000-piece collection of regional significant art and historical objects. Through exhibitions, educational initiatives and programs, the museum welcomes over 25,000 visitors each year, including 11,000 school-aged children and youth.
Jersey City Museums gallery hours are Wednesday and Friday from 11am to 5pm, Thursday from 11am to 8pm and weekends from 12pm to 5pm. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for seniors and students, and free for children under 12 and museum members. Admission is free for all on Thursday evenings from 5 to 8pm.
