Sheldon Survey: An Invitational
Lisa Sanditz, Pearl Farm II, 2007

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA.-In its biennial invitational, Sheldon presents works by more than 20 contemporary artists who are contributing to the development of American art of our time. Artworks include paintings, sculpture, photography, and installations.

Sheldon Survey continues the tradition of invitational exhibitions that were held by the Nebraska Art Association beginning in 1888 and continuing through 1964. The invitational exhibition was renewed in 2005 with Singular Expressions: A Sheldon Invitational. Many important works of art in Sheldon's collections were acquired through these exhibitions, and the works in this year's exhibition will be available for purchase.

Sheldon Survey: An Invitational seeks to share the breadth of expression in contemporary art by providing signature pieces by each artist. The exhibition will be documented with an illustrated publication and several participating artists will visit Sheldon to discuss their work.

Two of the artists, will speak about their work at the Sheldon in November. James Surls will lecture in Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13. For more information, please visit: James Surls Lecture

On Tuesday, November 27 at 5:30 p.m., Sandra Scolnik wil give an artist talk in the auditorium. For more information, please visit: Sandra Scolnik Lecture

Presented and organized by the Nebraska Art Association, Sheldon Survey: An Invitational is made possible by generous support from the Hixson-Lied Endowment, the Nebraska Arts Council, U.S. Bank and Assurity Security.
