George Heard Hamilton Memorial Lecture "Museums in Motion" |

|
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA.- Lucinda Barnes, deputy director of programs and collections at the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAM/PFA), will return to the Berkshires to reflect on "Museums in Motion" on Tuesday, October 23, at 5:30 pm. BAM/PFA, one of a select group of institutions internationally presenting both art and film, is in the later stages of conceptual design for a new museum.
Barnes, a 1978 M.A. graduate of Williams College, has been deeply involved in planning the growth and refinement of programs (including a significant presence of digital media) and an expanded relationship with the university and Berkeley communities. This free talk, held at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, is the 2007 George Heard Hamilton Memorial Lecture.
George Heard Hamilton (1910-2004) was director of the Clark from 1966 to 1977 and professor of art emeritus at Williams College. While at the Clark he founded the Graduate Program in the History of Art at Williams offered in collaboration with the Clark. The annual memorial lecture is sponsored by the graduate program with generous support of the Hamilton family and friends, with additional assistance from the Clark.
The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm (daily in July and August). Admission June 1 through October 31 is $12.50 for adults, free for children 18 and younger, members, and students with valid ID. Admission is free November through May. For more information, call 413-458-2303 or visit www.clarkart.edu.
