MYRTLE BEACH, SC.-High in the Himalayas is the tiny Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan, for centuries closed to the outside world and long shrouded in mystery. Photographer Tom Sterling has captured a series of stunning images of the land and people of Bhutan in an exhibit titled Bhutan: The Cloud Kingdom, Photographs and Artifacts – Organized by The Society of the Four Arts, Palm Beach, Florida, now on view at the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum.
Enjoy an in-depth tour of the exhibit, comprising dozens of Sterling’s photographs along with paintings, textile artworks and artifacts, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16. Museum docent and Special Projects Coordinator Karen Olson, who recently visited and photographed Bhutan herself, leads the tour. The exhibit runs through October 21.
Also currently on display at the Museum are The Art of Stephen Chesley: Twilight, Slight Rain-Poetic Realist Paintings; and Mapping the Dark: A Museum of Ambient Disorders, Visual Fiction by Rosamond Casey.
