Akron Art Museum Announces Opening of New Areas

AKRON, OH.- The Akron Art Museum, which has recently expanded to meet the growing public response to its programming, announces the opening of its Museum Store, Jazzman’s Café and special event services. The new award-winning John S. and James L. Knight Building serves museum-goers and visitors to downtown Akron with its new public shopping, dining and special event amenities.

Housed within the dramatic glass Beatrice Knapp McDowell Grand Lobby on High Street, the new Museum Store offers a unique shopping experience and a range of contemporary artful objects for home and lifestyle. From products inspired by the building’s new architecture and works of art on display in the museum, shoppers of all ages will discover the perfect gift: handmade jewelry, objects of high design, desk accessories, art books and children’s toys and art supplies. The store is open during normal museum operating hours: Tuesday – Sunday, 11 am – 5 pm; Thursday, 11 am – 9 pm.

Adjacent to the Beatrice Knapp McDowell Grand Lobby, Jazzman’s Café offers indoor and outdoor seating for enjoying an authentic coffeehouse experience. Savor a full line of proprietary coffee imported entirely from sustainable sources, espresso, specialty drinks, wine and smoothies, as well as the latest tastes in sandwiches, piping hot soups, cool salads, hot-pressed paninis and specialty baked goods. The cafe opens for lunch at 11 am Tuesday – Sunday. Guests can enjoy a delicious meal for around $6 – $8 in the museum’s cafe, outside on the Northern Ohio Golf Charities Terrace or to-go.

The Akron Art Museum is also happy to accommodate meetings, group tours and special events, from intimate parties to extravagant receptions in an unparalleled dramatic setting. The catering menu offers an array of gourmet hors d’oeuvres and dinner entrees for any occasion. For more information about holding your next special event at the Akron Art Museum call Molly Fulton, Special Events Manager at 330.376.9186 x212.

With its expanded role as a center for cultural, social and educational events and gatherings in the city, the Akron Art Museum invites guests to experience the dramatic landmark facility. Guests do not need to pay admission to shop and dine at the museum. Akron Art Museum members get a 10% discount on their purchases at the Museum Store and Jazzman’s Café.
