Bruce Weber Named Senior Curator at National Academy Museum |

NEW YORK.-The National Academy Museum is pleased to announce that Bruce Weber has joined the staff as Senior Curator, 19th Century Art. Dr. Weber received his doctorate at the City University Graduate Center , where he completed his dissertation on the artist Robert Frederick Blum (1857-1903). He has served previously as curator at the University Of Kentucky Art Museum and the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach , where he organized several superlative shows that toured to museums around the country. Since 1990 he has served as Director of Research and Exhibitions at Berry-Hill Galleries in New York . Dr. Weber has organized many historical exhibitions of American art and authored the accompanying publications. In recent years he has organized the exhibitions Homage to the Square: Picturing Washington Square, 1890-1965 (2001), Heart of the Matter: The Still Lifes of Marsden Hartley (2003), Chase Inside and Out: The Aesthetic Interiors of William Merritt Chase (2004), and Toward a New American Cubism (2006), as well as authored the book Paintings of New York, 1800-1950 (San Francisco: Pomegranate, 2005).
