NOTTINGHAM, UK.-Over the weekend of the 4 - 5 August 2007, a new city arose from the ashes of the failed world. Geodecity was built and inhabited by Geo-Pioneers undertaking a pilgrimage to utopia.

Geo-Pioneers travelled from afar to reach the dramatic location of Morley Quarry in Leicestershire, with the common goal of building a new community as a model for others to follow. During their stay Geo-Pioneers embarked on a ambitious programme of physically demanding but practical activities, whilst exploring how their model could be taken to the next stage.

Geodesic domes were collectively built to house the new community. This revolutionary design, developed by futurist design scientist R. Buckminster Fuller in the 50’s, proved a valid solution to Geodecity's housing needs. Seven of these domes remain at Morley Quarry as relics of this lived society, open for the public to view and explore, and for them to imagine what life must have been like for this pioneering community.

The installed dome city is the second phase of Destination: Geodecity, remaining on site until Sunday 19 August. How these fragile structures are treated and used whilst in a public space will further Reactor's explorations of audience interaction within diverse environments.
