LONG ISLAND CITY, NY.- The Fisher Landau Center for Art presents Remembering Michael Hurson and Paper, two new exhibitions from the collection of Emily Fisher Landau curated by Bill Katz. Continuing its 15th anniversary celebration, The Fisher Landau Center for Art is pleased to present two new exhibitions from the collection of Emily Fisher Landau. PAPER and REMEMBERING MICHAEL HURSON, organized by Bill Katz, the museum's curator, will open to the public on Saturday, May 19th. A reception will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

PAPER includes more than 200 rarely seen works (the majority of which have never been exhibited before) by artists ranging from Joe Andoe, Carl Andre and Richard Artschwager to James Wyeth, Tadanori Yokoo and Lisa Yuskavage. Additional artists include: Merce Cunningham, Robert Gober, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, April Gornik, Glenn Ligon, Anselm Kiefer, Annette Lemieux, Sherrie Levine, Agnes Martin, Tom Otterness, Richard Prince, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Susan Rothenberg, Kiki Smith, Kara Walker, Robert Wilson, Cy Twombly, and Andy Warhol, among others.

After meeting Michael Hurson, known for his whimsical paintings and drawings of humans and inanimate objects, Emily Fisher Landau began collecting the artist's work in depth. REMEMBERING MICHAEL HURSON features 15 of Hurson's sly images (some on loan from other collections), including a portrait of Mrs. Landau, commissioned in 1987. The exhibition is a tribute to Michael Hurson and is the first show of his work since his death in January 2007.

REMEMBERING MICHAEL HURSON and PAPER will be on view at The Fisher Landau Center for Art through December 2007. A series of public events, organized in conjunction with the exhibitions and scheduled to take place throughout their duration, will be announced shortly.
