Apollo Magazine launches 1000-issue online archive
A number of articles have been made free-to-read.

LONDON.- Apollo has launched a complete online archive. Over a century’s worth of issues dating back to 1925 are now available to readers for the first time via Exact Editions.

The leading monthly magazine is an authority on art collecting, the international art market, and museum exhibitions - widely considered to be one of the world’s most renowned and respected art publications.

The comprehensive, fully-searchable digital resource features all 1200+ issues of the magazine. Readers can see the development of the publication, from its founding by legendary art dealer Joseph Duveen and Finnish art historian Tancred Borenius, to Denys Sutton’s legendary 25-year stint as editor, to the industry-defining present-day art market reporting.

Highlights within the archive include; excited letters about the emerging surrealism movement from 1926 Paris, the discovery of a Leonardo Da Vinci statuette first reported by Apollo in 1934, John Berger’s essay on Renato Guttuso in 1955, as well as Brian Sewell’s criticism of the Royal Academy Schools in the late 1980s.
