MADRID, SPAIN.- The third anniversary of Madrid's train bombings was marked with the unveiling of a 30ft glass monument in honor of the 192 victims. The Spanish royalty together with leading politicians held a five-minute moment of silence and toured the internal chamber of the structure, which has thousands of messages left by people who wished well after the attack.
The event took place at the Atocha station in Madrid with the Kings of Spain and the Princes of Asturias. The interior of the monument is a cylinder 11 meters high with thousands of solid glass bricks with the names of the 192 victims and the messages left by citizens condemning the terrorist act. There were no speeches at the event. The song of the birds by Pau Casals was played. José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, president and Mariano Rajoy, leader of the Popular Party were present.
