GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY will present an impressive collection of fine jewelry, all the property of the family of legendary American composer, conductor, pianist, and educator Leonard Bernstein, the first American-born conductor to achieve international stardom, at their upcoming Saturday, May 2nd , 2026 Multi-Estates Auction.

As most people are aware, he is best known for composing the musical West Side Story, leading the New York Philharmonic, and bringing classical music to public television. Previews for the May 2nd auction will be held on Thursday, April 30th and Friday, May 1st from 10am until 6pm. This exquisite selection of jewels, all from Van Cleef and Arpels, Cartier, David Webb and others, were gifts from Leonard Bernstein to his beautiful wife of over 25 years, Felicia Montealegre.

The auction will also feature various collections from other prominent estates, including a trove of items from the estates of Oleg Cassini, Inc. and Cassini Parfums, Ltd., both business entities of the legendary, late fashion designer Oleg Cassini. These items all came from the lower two floors of the former gilded-age Cassini townhouse on East 63rd St. in Manhattan, which just recently sold in New York for $34.5 million. The collection features art, antiques, original fashion sketches and hundreds of personal photos with Cassini’s many high-profile friends & associates, trophies, perfume bottles and more.

The superb jewelry collection, all property from the family of Leonard Bernstein, includes a Van Cleef & Arpels pair of diamond and sapphire ear clips, mounted in platinum, set with 18 pear shaped sapphires, total approximately 9.00 carats, and 44 round brilliant-cut diamonds, total approximately 6.60 carats, signed on ear clip backs VCA NY 41020. sapphires well matched and lively, in a signed box. Estimate $20,000-$40,000. A Van Cleef & Arpels Pair of Diamond Ear Clips, Van Cleef & Arpels pair of pace-set diamond earrings, mounted in platinum, set with approximately 84 round brilliant-cut diamonds, total approximately 5.80 carats, each earring back signed VCA NY 36858. earrings with loop so that pendant drops can be added. Estimate $10,000-$15,000 and a Van Cleef & Arpels Gold & Turquoise Porcupine Clip, Van Cleef & Arpels 18K gold, turquoise and ruby porcupine clip, signed NY299-26 VCA FRANCE. Estimate $4,500-$5,500, a Pave-Set Diamond Brooch, Pave-set old mine diamond brooch, set with 101 old mine diamonds, Estimate $3,500-$5,500 and an Antique Diamond & Ribbon Choker, Antique rose, table and old mine diamond and grosgrain dog collar mounted in silver-topped gold, with French assay marks and maker's mark (rubbed - possibly F G in a horizontal diamond punch), circa 1895, in the style Chaumet's knife edge jeweled creations, designed as four scrolling, pierced and knife edge diamond mounted panels, three with pin stems, one as part of the clasp, sewn to a black wide ribbon band. Also featured is a pair of Cartier Enamel and Gold Hoop Ear Clips, Cartier pair of white enamel and 18K gold spring hinged hoop ear clips, signed Cartier 18K Italy. Property from the family of Leonard Bernstein. Estimate $1,500-$2,500, a Pair of Van Cleef & Arpels 18K men’s Gold & Sapphire Cufflinks, with French assay mark, signed Van Cleef et Arpels Paris. Property from the family of Leonard Bernstein. Estimate $2,000-$4,000 and a Mikimoto Double Strand Cultured Pearl Necklace, Mikimoto double strand cultured pearl necklace, composed of 8.3mm. cultured pearls (48 and 51), now joined by a simple 14K white gold box clasp. [17.5" L]. According to the family this necklace was originally one long strand without a clasp and was purchased at Mikimoto, it is not signed; later it has been converted to a double strand necklace. Pearls are well matched, creamy white with soft cream, pink and silver overtones, high lustre, round and with very few minor blemishes. Property from the family of Leonard Bernstein. From another prominent family, with an obvious passion and appreciation for fine French decorative arts and crafted works, Roland is offering a rare Louis Cane (1943–2024) roll top desk and chair fabricated by Ateliers Ludwig & Dominique, circa 1995, edition 1/8, with joined wood construction throughout, the roll top and louvered opening to revealing pigeonholes and drawers, and a long drawer to lower with interior compartments, accompanied by a chair, desk signed Cane with edition 1/8 to upper left side, upper right with artists cypher and stamped Ateliers Ludwig & Dominique to lower, chair editioned 1/8 on interior rail and stamped Ateliers Ludwig & Dominique, seat numbered and bearing artist's cypher (octagonal punch with Cane and laurel branch), Estimate $8,000-$12,000, as well as am impressive collection of post-World War II modern Lalique, with a Lalique "Capucines" crystal bowl, designed in 1947 by Marc Lalique and signed on the base, an "Orchidee Lys Orchid" crystal bowl, designed in 1961 by Marc Lalique, a “Yeso Antinea” crystal vase, designed post World War II and a Lalique "Barbade" crystal centerpiece bowl, also designed post World War II, signed on the foot.
