From reclamation yard to Silverstone: Schumacher's 'winning era' tyre set for auction
Benetton F1 Tyre linked tp Michael Schumacher.

WELLINGBOROUGH.- As the motorsport season accelerates, the Racing Revolution: Motorsport Timed Auction showcases rare and sought-after collectables.

Among the most exciting items in the sale is a race tyre. BUDDS Auctions believes that this Benetton F1 Tyre (above) once sat beneath Michael Schumacher as he set off one more time in the 1993 season on his famous but ill-fated career.

The provenance points strongly to this historic link being correct given the trail that brought it to auction for a snip at £400-£600 at BUDDS looks promising.

“According to Andrew Moyers, Head of Motorsport at Budds: This is a Benetton used Goodyear rear wheel and tyre, believed to date from Michael Schumacher’s winning era between 1992 and 1995. The wheel features authentic race wear consistent with track use, adding to its provenance and visual appeal.

The current owner had purchased the wheel from a local reclamation yard more than 20 years ago and brought it along to BUDDS recent valuation day at the Silverstone Museum a few weeks ago and now it's a main feature in the auction. Bearing its original ‘Benetton Formula – Type D’ marking on the rim.”

The tyre has various markings including the below:

• 26.OX15.0-13
• D4641
• 264957-87P08HP

The rear wheel and tyre measures 63cm diameter.
