BOSTON, MASS.- RR Auction’s Spring 2026 Remarkable Rarities sale, closing March 26, is one of the most sweeping offerings in the company’s 50-year history. The sale spans the full arc of civilization, bringing together historically significant documents and artifacts from Tudor England to the modern era.

Among the earliest highlights is a 1510 vellum warrant signed “Henry R” by King Henry VIII, issued during the second year of his reign. Also featured is a 1601 letter signed “Elizabeth R” by Queen Elizabeth I, excusing the Archbishop of York from personally attending what would become the final Parliament of her 45-year reign.

Colonial America is represented by a May 15, 1664 land grant signed by Peter Stuyvesant, issued at Fort Amsterdam four months before he surrendered New Netherland to the English, as well as a 1681 indenture signed by William Penn, conveying 5,000 acres to one of Pennsylvania’s original “First Purchasers.”

American history runs deep with a dual-signed 1801 vellum appointment document bearing the signatures of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, appointing William C. C. Claiborne governor of the Mississippi Territory.

Twentieth-century political history is represented by a 1955 autograph letter signed “Jack” by John F. Kennedy, written on United States Senate letterhead and sent to Swedish aristocrat Gunilla von Post. In the letter, Kennedy writes, “I am coming to Stockholm,” and asks her to “write to me right away as I shall be leaving for Europe in 2 weeks.” According to von Post’s later public account, the two first met in Europe in 1953 and maintained correspondence thereafter. The sale also includes a signed United States Marine Corps enlistment application of Lee Harvey Oswald, documenting his early military service years before the assassination of President Kennedy in 1963.

The science and classical music categories are led by a “Bäsle” letter by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, alongside a signed letter by Albert Einstein featuring hand-drawn experimental sketches. Also included is a signed first edition of The Interpretation of Dreams by Sigmund Freud, as well as letters by Marie Curie, Nikola Tesla, Charles Darwin, Frédéric Chopin, and Johannes Brahms.

Music and entertainment highlights include what is cataloged as the only known fully signed post-breakup photograph of The Beatles, a complete signed 1968 concert program by The Doors, a Japanese pressing of Led Zeppelin II signed by all four members of Led Zeppelin in Tokyo, and original handwritten lyrics by Jerry Garcia.

The art offerings include a rare “Yellow Rain” Nola screenprint numbered 4/31 by Banksy, original published artwork for CoEvolution Quarterly by Robert Crumb, a 1939 Pinocchio Director’s Continuity Sketch Book containing 47 original storyboard drawings, and panoramic concept paintings by Disney artists Mary Blair and Eyvind Earle.
