BUFFALO, NY.- The Albright-Knox Art Gallery presents Surface Matter: Collage from the Collection. While many artists have worked solely in the medium, collage has failed to rise to the popularity of drawing, painting, and sculpture. Surface Matter reveals nearly 100 years of collage and exemplifies how it infiltrated a century of art making and continues to relate to the artistic expressions of the twenty-first century. This exhibition will include works by artists such as Ronald Bladen, Charles Clough, Joseph Cornell, Jim Dine, Seymour Drumlevich, Jess, Joshua Neustein, Larry Rivers, Anne Ryan, Kurt Schwitters, and Leon Polk Smith.
