NEW YORK, NY.- Christie's will present Contemporary Edition: New York, an online sale open for bidding from 17-26 February. The sale is an array of more than 150 post-war and contemporary prints and multiples, with estimates starting at under $1,000offering an exciting opportunity for seasoned and emerging collectors alike. Highlights in the sale include works by icons of the post-war era such as Roy Lichtenstein, Ellsworth Kelly and Helen Frankenthaler; as well as outstanding contemporary examples by the most coveted names including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, and many more.
The top lot of the sale is Gold Band an exemplary work by El Anatsui (estimate: $60,000-80,000). Additional top lots include Andy Warhol's screenprint of Mick Jagger (estimate: $60,000-80,000) and I Love Liberty by Roy Lichtenstein (estimate: $40,000-60,000).
The sale notably features a fantastic selection of work being sold to benefit Studio in a School, a non-profit organization Christie's has proudly partnered with for years. The top lot of this group is Julie Mehretu's Achille (epoch) (estimate: $20,000-30,000), with other highlights including an untitled 2022 woodcut by Martin Puryear (estimate: $6,000-8,000) and Skipping Stone by Sarah Sze (estimate: $5,000-7,000). Studio in a School is a pioneering visual arts organization founded by Agnes Gund in 1977 in response to New York City drastically reducing funding for arts education in public schools. Now nearing its 50th year, Studio in a School continues to foster and support the creative and intellectual development of children across the country. For years, Christie's has been a proud partner of Studio in a School, supporting the organization in a variety of capacities including hosting annual exhibitions of outstanding artworks created by young artists grades Pre-K - 12 in Studio in a School's visual arts education programs.
