Samantha Yancey documents the unseparable bond of Mississippi twins at All About Photo
All About Photo is presenting Fay and Gay by Samantha Yancey, winner of the January solo exhibition.

WEST HOLLYWOOD CA.- Samantha Yancey presents Fay and Gay, a solo exhibition on view throughout January 2026, featuring an intimate portrait of twin sisters Fay and Gay, born in 1936 near Pelahatchie, Mississippi. Never separated, the sisters have shared nearly every aspect of their lives—from building their home together in 1969 to maintaining intertwined careers, daily routines, and a deeply rooted sense of companionship.

Yancey’s project offers a quiet yet powerful meditation on twinhood, aging, and lifelong partnership. Fay and Gay share household duties, creative hobbies such as knitting and puzzle-solving, and are known locally for their homemade Divinity candy. Their home reflects decades of shared history, filled with twin-inspired artwork, poems, porcelain figurines, and framed puzzles made from family memories. They continue to dress in matching outfits, a visible expression of comfort, identity, and unity.

Often found sitting side by side on their front porch, greeting passersby with a wave and a smile, Fay and Gay embody a rare continuity and grace. Through a sensitive and respectful lens, Samantha Yancey captures the beauty of constancy and the quiet strength of a life lived together.

Samantha Yancey is a Mississippi-born artist drawn to the subtle intersections of nature, kinship, and lived experience. Her work has been exhibited internationally and featured in print and online publications. In her recent series, Fay and Gay, she documents the lifelong devotion and unity of twin sisters, capturing quiet strength, tenderness, and daily rituals. Across her work, Yancey explores intimacy and the enduring beauty of everyday life within Southern identity. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Photography from the Art Institute of Atlanta (2012) and lives in Jackson, Mississippi, where she continues to explore the stories and rhythms of the people and places around her.
