HONG KONG.- On 30 October 2025, Christie's proudly presented two prestigious single-owner auctions: The Ai Lian Tang Collection Imperial Scholar's Objects and The Au Bak ling Collection Volume II. The Ai Lian Tang collection is an important private collection of imperial scholar's objects, carefully curated to illuminate the emperor's life as a scholar and sovereign; The Au Bak Ling collection celebrates the prestigious collection of Chinese ceramics formed by the illustrious collector Au Bak Ling, spanning the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, all distinguished by their exceptional provenance and condition. The auction room was packed with enthusiastic collectors competing for the masterpieces. The Ai Lian Tang Collection achieved HK$146,537,600 / US$18,949,686, while the Au Bak Ling Collection Volume II totalled HK$107,945,500 / US$13,959,102. Both sales surpassed HK$100M in total, with the hammer exceeding the low estimate by 126% and 165% respectively, reflecting the demand from the market for rare and remarkable masterpieces from each category with distinguished provenance. The leading lot of the Ai Lian Tang collection was an imperial Beijing enamel 'geese and quails' tiered ink stone warmer box and cover, realising HK$37,100,000 / US$4,797,631, more than three times over low estimate. The top lot of the Au Bak Ling collection was a fine and extremely rare yangcai 'poppy' bowl, realising HK$17,458,000 / US$2,257,602. Following the success of the inaugural sale of the Au Bak Ling collection last September, volume II has brought the overall collection total to HK$195M / US$25.2M, with an exceptional sell-through-rate of 92% by lot and a combined hammer price 163% above the low estimate.

The results of both single-owner auctions this season further reinforce Christie's position as the auction house of reference for prestigious single-owner collections globally. We are immensely proud to have offered these remarkable masterpieces and imperial objects to Asian Art collectors and enthusiasts, celebrating centuries of cultural heritage and artistic craftsmanship.

During Christie's Hong Kong Asian Art Week, two Chinese Paintings live auctions were successfully concluded on 28 & 29 October. Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, together with Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings, have totalled HK$506.6M / US$65.5M, with a hammer price of 221% above the low estimate. The total of the two live sales marks an increase of 86% year-on-year, which is the highest fall season since 2021, solidifying our fall season market leadership, and a testament to robust market demand for rare and important masterpieces from distinguished private collections worldwide. The Chiang Chao-shen Collection: Chinese Paintings and Scholar's Objects from the Lingou Hall online auction will open bidding until 11 November.
