HELSINKI.- Amos Rex is seeking : Curator (Art, Technology and Society) and Curator (Art in the Public Realm)  for a full-time permanent position starting in December 2025 or by agreement.

Amos Rex, which opened in 2018, has established itself as one of Finland's most popular museums. It is located in Helsinki's historic Glaspalatset building, with 1600 sq m of underground exhibition spaces under the spectacular courtyard above. It is an independent art museum with 125 employees, owned by Amos Anderson’s Fund.

Amos Rex invites a broad public to spectacular art experiences in, around and beyond Glaspalatset. We organise exhibitions, outdoor installations, events and other programs for a broad, general public audience. Recent highlights include exhibitions with Keiken, Larissa Sansour and Anna Estarriola, and ambitious events in collaboration with Tony Cokes and Minttu Vesala.

Every day, we invite a broad public to spectacular art experiences in, around and beyond Glaspalatskvarteret. One day, we aim to be the foremost future-focused art museum in the Nordics and one of the most extraordinary public places in Finland.

The roles

We are looking for curators working within either of our core curatorial themes:  Art, technology and Society and Art in the Public Realm. Both roles require a strong curatorial vision, excellent communication skills, extensive networks, and a deep engagement with contemporary artistic practices and societal issues.

We are looking for experienced Curators to join our internationally minded team curating exhibitions, installations, commissions, events and programmes that can attract diverse audiences in Finland and internationally.

Your tasks include

Curating exhibitions, commissions and public programming; conceiving and developing curatorial concepts  Writing and communicating curatorial content; producing and contributing to publications and other media  Acting as a liaison and building long-term relationships with artists.  Supporting research, development, and delivery of exhibitions, events, and publications   Playing a key public-facing role within the institution  Engaging critically with contemporary topics relevant to a future-focused artistic identity  Aligning curatorial content with institutional strategy

What we are looking for in a candidate

Strong international networks   Proven track record of curating group and solo exhibitions, commissions, and expanded programming  Experience working with audiences and communities  Familiarity with academic discourse and public debate around museums, art and other topics in the field  Excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire audiences, colleagues, and the media

Eligibility requirements / required qualifications

MA in art history, aesthetics, curatorial studies, design, fine art, media studies, urban studies, or a related field or equivalent experience  Professional-level proficiency in English

The position is in our curatorial team, a team of three people led by our Head of Curation Itha O’Neill. The primary focus of the team is to implement Amos Rex’s new curatorial strategy: to shape an internationally recognised, future-focused artistic identity for Amos Rex that brings art closer to the public, engages with pressing topics of our times and nurtures new forms of expression shaped by the possibilities of technology.

The curatorial theme of Art, Technology and Society aims to develop artistic projects that focus on new frontiers of artistic expression, emerging technologies and their societal implications, while the theme of Art in the Public Realm focuses on the evolving role of art in the future of cities and how museums can be civic platforms and public spaces. The work of this theme will be especially important in imagining new ways to use the extraordinary building and public space that Amos Rex occupies in the heart of Helsinki.

Amos Rex is a friendly, loyal and varied working environment with a multitude of fascinating projects to be a part of. The environment will suit a quality-driven, collaborative and sociable individual with an international attitude and the ability to take a high level of responsibility for the quality of their work. Amos Rex offers the chance to work at one of Finland’s most ambitious and well-resourced cultural institutions.
