BERLIN.- A new exhibition celebrating a major donation to the Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin is inviting visitors on a journey into the life and mind of a passionate art collector. Titled "Thats All Me!," the exhibition showcases the generous gift of over 200 works from the late art patron Christoph Müller (19382024).
This is the second of four planned presentations of the donated collection, with the current show, "Encounters," focusing on how artists have depicted human relationships. The works on display, which include drawings, prints, and watercolors spanning five centuries, explore themes of friendship, family, and social gatherings. According to the museum, these pieces reflect Müllers own sociable and bustling character, as he was known for nurturing many friendships. The exhibition also delves into the more solitary side of human experience, with portraits and figure studies that capture moments of quiet contemplation.
The four-part exhibition is a tribute to Müller, a former publisher who became a significant art collector and patron. Known as the "Robin Hood of art," he made numerous generous donations to museums across Germany and maintained a particularly close relationship with the Kupferstichkabinett.
Following this presentation, two more exhibitions will open in the coming year. "On Travel and Being at Home" will begin on December 2, 2025, and focus on landscapes, seascapes, and city views. The final installment, "Lifes Work," will open on March 10, 2026, and feature works from the collection centered on nature and the environment.
After the exhibition series concludes in June 2026, all the donated works will be permanently available for public and scholarly research at the museum's study hall and online.
