Art Scholar and Curator Robert Rosenblum, 79, Dies |

NEW YORK.- Art scholar and curator Robert Rosenblum, 79, died in New York. He was a professor of fine arts at New York University and also an associate curator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
Rosenblum published 18 books, among them "Transformations in Late Eighteenth Century Art" (1967) and "Nineteenth Century Art" (with H.W. Janson, 1984). He also published specialized studies on artists, among them Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, and Mr. Koons.
Robert Rosenblum was born in New York. He studied at Queens College and Yale University. In 1956 he earned a Ph.D. from New York University. He tought at Princeton University, the University of Michigan, and Yale. In 1967 he joined NYU as a professor at the Institute of Fine Arts. He was appointed the Henry Ittleson Jr. professor of modern European art in 1976 He became a curator at the Guggenheim in 1996, where he worked on shows such as "James Rosenquist, the Swimmer in the Econo-Mist" and "Picasso: The War Years, 193745."
