NEW YORK.- On December 13, Virgin Mobile USA will host a public art auction in New York , at The X-Change, 640 West 28th Street . Virgin Mobile created the RE*Generation Gallery – commissioning 10 established and emerging artists to personally interpret the idea of ‘youth on the margins’ through their work. Each piece will be on display and auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting the RE*Generation charitable partners - YouthNoise, the first youth-based social network for social change, and StandUp For Kids, the largest all-volunteer national non-profit organization dedicated to going to the streets and making a difference in the lives of at-risk, homeless and street kids.

The artists chosen, most of whom are New York-based, showcase a range of styles and formats. Together they make a powerful statement about the invisibility and isolation of young people living on the fringes of society. Some of the artists include:

Erik White, whose “hyper-intensive, distortedly lucid” paintings have attracted the interest of a wide range of collectors, including celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Viggo Mortensen, Patricia Arquette and more

San Francisco-based painter and graffiti artist Barry McGee, who draws from urban experience and street culture for his large-scale murals and portraits

Abstract artist Chiesel John, based in Harlem , who blends her love of jazz and hip-hop into her work
