This group show includes a selection of pieces from the international collection of more than 3,300 artworks from one of the most important contemporary art collections in Latin America. Installation, sculpture, video, and photography works by a wide range of contemporary artists across different generations and regions will be on show in two exhibitions, the first from May - August 2025 and the second opening this autumn.

The first of these presentations, both curated by Kit Hammonds, Chief Curator of Museo Jumex, will feature artists from around the world, including Ana Pellicer and Tania Pérez Córdova from Mexico, Salla Tykkä from Finland and Norwegian-Nigerian artist Frida Orupabo.

Highlights include Mexican artist Damián Ortega’s Clay Mountain, an immense three- metre-high mound of clay shaped to reference a mountain or volcano. Jenny Holzer’s Truisms, 1983, is a display screen that flashes deliberately challenging and often contradictory statements. For Alma, Silueta en Fuego from Cuban artist Ana Mendieta’s Silueta series, Mendieta used a range of natural materials to create an outline of her body on the ground, in this instance, fire, to explore the body and representation.

Kit Hammonds, Chief Curator at Museo Jumex, Mexico says: “Museo Jumex is delighted to be collaborating with the South London Gallery by being in residence in the SLG's Fire Station building. United by a commitment to broadening and diversifying audiences for international contemporary visual art, both institutions share innovative approaches to exhibitions and programming that make this a natural and exciting partnership.”

Margot Heller, Director of the South London Gallery says: “We are thrilled to partner with Museo Jumex, and Kit Hammonds, on this exciting collaboration, and to have the opportunity to bring a curated selection of exceptional international contemporary artworks from such a significant collection to London audiences.”
