Irene Pressner Wins First Prize of the MoLAA Award |

LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA.- Irene Pressner won the first prize of the MoLAA Award. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the institution, the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) organize their first international prize “Premios MoLAA”. One hundred and thirty two artists of several Spanish and Portuguese regions (U.S.A., Mexico, Center and South America and the Caribbean region) participate of the event.
The jury was formed by Peter Frank critic and independent curator; Miki Garcia director of the Santa Barbara Contemporary Art Forum; Bill Kelley director of the art portal LatinArt.com and Christopher Miles critic, independent curator and professor of art theory of the California State University.
The jury select the winners of the nine prizes (total of $1000,000.00) and made their projection of which of the contemporary Latin American artists will become the next masters.
MoLAA Award Winners: First Prize, Irene Pressner US$ 50,000. Second Prize, Manuel Ameztoy US$ 20,000. Third Prize, Victor Chab US$ 15,000. Fourth Prize, Andres Michelena US$ 5,000. Honorable Mentions: US$ 2,000 each (Melvin Martinez, Jean Saade Palombo, Manuel Loes (Mexico), Guillermo Bert (Chile), and Tony Bechara.
